About the event

This workshop is designed for individuals across the gender, age, weight, and normalized/disordered eating continuums.   Content is designed to help individuals reflect on their own implicit beliefs and values about health, food, weight, and exercise.  Through the workshop,  you will gain a more accurate and informed understanding of early and ongoing familial and societal messaging about these topics and how that messaging may be contributing to your current beliefs.  By gaining a more impartial and flexible stance, you will be better equipped to address your own body image concerns and potentially problematic relationship with food and weight, which is a critical first step in helping others, either personally or professionally.

Content will be situated through the lens of the Health at Every Size movement.  Among others, key topics include the impact of social media and peer groups, objectification and how it can impact one's experience of the physical self, the BMI and "obesity epidemic," and how the construct we refer to as health can end up being just the opposite.
